The year of 1960 has significance for Koreans since it was the time of resistance against dictatorship and pursuit to democracy. Among the 5 most notable democratic movement that took place in the year, February 28 Democratic Movement was the first that eventually impacted to the rest: March 15 Masan Uprising, the April 19 Revolution, May 18th Gwangju Uprising and June 10th Movement.

The public effort to make February 28 as a national holiday started last February. The committee was made and it had 1 million citizens to sign for their support and held public discussion.
As of now, February 28 is a national holiday, which is marked in red on a calendar. At 2.28 Central Memorial Park, a tombstone was built to show the lyrics for the theme song. The official ceremony was held with president, VIPs, students and other guests at Daegu Concert House. Some of the event include a play, songs and interviews.
Later in the afternoon, high school students marched across Daegu downtown just like it was in 1960.
