Daegu Vegan Survival Guide: 7 Days a Week

Being a Vegan in Korea SHOULD be easy. There are farmer’s markets open daily with fresh produce, a predominantly pedestrian population, and cultural roots in farming & communing with nature here. But honestly, it still takes EFFORT! My kitchen is meatless and dairy-free. No seafood, no eggs, no butter, no honey, NO PROBLEM! But what if I don’t feel like cooking?!?

Meat is king in Korea and it is very hard to escape its beckoning aromas from noon to midnight if you venture at all outside your domicile. Meat means prosperity and gathering here. “Beef & Leaf” restaurants provide a cheap and fun way to indoor BBQ. CHIMAC (Chicken & Beer) is the ultimate fried chicken party in your belly (and everybody is invited). So where can a Vegan wife go out, and still satisfy her omnivorous husband?!? Here are some spots for every day of the week:

Sunday is a tricky day because many vegan option restaurants tend to be closed. Snow Pea is a blessing to be OPEN this day. House salad & fried tofu Udon soup come complimentary with your order. The soup is my FAVORITE! There is an extensive menu of American-style sushi rolls like the ones back in the USA and that makes my hubby VERY HAPPY.
