The striking colors of yuchae flowers is what you deserve in Daegu during the spring. Hajungdo island, located in Geumho river, is filled with yellow yuchae flower and open to public beginning April 7(The date may be subject to change depending on the weather. Please see the basic information at the bottom)


Yuchae flower, which is translated as rape flower, got its name from a latin word “rapum” that means turnip. This flower looks similar to canola flower. Yuchae flower is one of the most popular flowers that symbolizes spring for Koreans. Yuchae flower field is best known for one in Jeju Island but you can see a huge one in Daegu without flying!


The yuchae blossom is expected to be at its peak 1 or 2 weeks after the opening date.Plan ahead your trip to Hajungdo flower field. Spread the news to your friends inside and outside Daegu!

To truly accommodate 1 million foreign tourists coming to Daegu each year, Daegu has corrected all road guide sings in each district. Totally 1,056 signs were revised to follow national Romanization guidelines so that the same nouns are spelled the same anywhere on the sign. Yuchae Flower Field at Hajungdo Island
Located in Geumhogang river, Hajungdo Island looks gorgeous all year round. Starting from spring, it will be filled with dazzling yellow Yuchae flowers! This fragrant field is a must-check in Korea.

─ 3 countries to make their first appearance at Winter Paralympics: North Korea, Georgia and Tajikistan.

This morning, Daegu had the heaviest snow fall this winter! The entire city is covered with snow! Snow view is spectacular but it is hard to commute and move around in the presence of snow on streets and roads. Daegu City Hall and citizens has been clearing away snows across the city. Thank you so much for everyone who’s been so kind and responsible to remove snow from the streets!

When it snows, it’s important to get rid of the snow before it freezes. It is a civic duty states in the ordinance.

Time: Within 4 hours after snow stopped.
When it snows at night, by 11am.
Extent: From the building to 1 – 1.5m away
so that people can walk



You can use snow-removal materials inside the containers that looks like the picture above. They are sporadically placed on the streets and contain calcium chloride and sands for slippery pavements.

Also, the following is snow safety tips you can refer to.
Refrain from going outside.
Put on sneakers or mountain-climbing boots when going outside.
Please take your hand out of pockets when walking on snow.
Refrain from talking on the phone when walking.
Make sure car stopped when using crosswalk
Hold handrail when climbing stairs.
Walking at night is not recommended.

As a member of Creative Cities Network(Music) by UNESCO, Daegu hosts a number of qualitative music experiences throughout a year. The 4th Opera Universiade will take place in the beginning of March to promote musical exchanges among students from different countries! Participating artists come not only from Korean universities but also from Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, Berline University of the Arts, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Venice Conservatory of Music.

A great new to Russian friends living in Daegu has been released! A new flight to Vladivostok will launch from Daegu International Airport on April 6. With this, the Korea's fast growing airport offers total 19 regular routes that are composed of 3 domestic and 16 international flights.
The local airport is the 3rdairport in the peninsula that provides a direct route to Vladivostok following Incheon and Gimpo international airports. Daegu Metropolitan City is expecting that cultural and economical exchange between the two countries will increase. A round-trip costs 400,000 won on average.
