Daegu Metropolitan City will officially host the 13th Asian Drama Conference in Daegu in October. Yesterday, at the city hall, the city had a business agreement with KOFICE(Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange) to hold the Asia’s largest drama festival.

Since 2006, ATDF has contributed to the development of the Asian pop culture industry. The conference has taken place in major Asian countries such as Seoul, China, Shanghai, Nagasaki, Kitakyushu and Fukuoka. Last year, 62 organizations from 11 countries, 200 experts and 100 visitors participated in the 12th event. The 13th ATDF will be held from October 17 to 20 in Daegu with 300s participants.

Not only ATDF is a great opportunity to professionals to visit local spots filmed in nationally famous TV shows, it is also a chance to discuss, cooperate and network with other experts. TV shows such as Maze(2007), Telecinema(2008) and KOL KIMONO(2015) are successful example of co-productions by multiple countries.

A part of the event includes the ATDC award. At the last ceremony, Korean singer-actor Im Yoon-ah received special commendation.

Daegu city has supported production of creative and experimental films. 4 out of 6 works supported by Daegu received awards at national independent film festivals.

In addition, famous TV shows such as “Oh My Venus(2015- 2016) and Love Rain(2012) was filmed in Daegu. Recently, one of the most anticipated TV show of the year, Four Men, is in production in Daegu and will be broadcasted in late 2018.

We are looking forward to making this event an opportunity to host more drama production in Daegu and develop local film industry!
